While it has very little global significance, Thanksgiving is an American holiday that means valuable family time. And as a life-long vegetarian, I enjoy a turkey-free, family-filled Thanksgiving holiday.
Being away from home and family for so long a period of time can be a bit depressive. My eight-year-old sister, who's turning nine next month, has asked to come visit me here in New York and I'm very excited about having her here for a time, allowing me a bit of a break from serious college life.
